To expand the usable wavelength bandwidth for optical communications, we have focused on a use of a 1-micrometer wavelength band as namely a T-band (Thousand-band), thereby pioneering a new waveband for a photonic transport system. To construct T-band photonic transport system, attractive photonic ICT devices such as YDFA (Ytterbium Doped Fiber Amplifier) and holey-fiber transmission lines are developed. In this paper, T-band, 10-Gbps, and error-free ultra-broadband photonic transmission over a holey fiber can be demonstrated. Pioneering broadband optical frequency resources over the 8.6-THz is successfully achieved for wavelength division multiplex photonic transport system in T-band. |
