Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, an analysis method of the effect of several factors such as viewing distance in texture perception using morphological and statistical model is proposed. We synthesized textures by controlling local and global textural features separately using a texture model based on mathematical morphology. Forty subjects estimated visual impression of the texture stimuli with changing the viewing distance. The collected data was analyzed using the logistic regression model and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). The experimental results indicate that the mutual interactions of local and global features of a texture are significantly affected by the viewing distance on human perception. The analysis numerically indicates that other factors such as gender, prior knowledge, and the changing order of viewing positions also have great influences on human texture perception.
