Evaluation of Multiple-Precision Floating-Point Accelerator HP-DSFP through Applications.

(in English) In recent years, many kinds of scientific application programs, such as Fluid analysis, Feynman loop integrals and conjugate gradient (CG) method for calculation of the scattering amplitudes, require high-precision floating-point operations. We have proposed a reconfigurable accelerator HP-DSFP with digit serial floating point unit so as to accelerate scientific computation by using multiple precision floating point operations. From the evaluation results, HP-DSFP processor reduced the execution time of FFT, Loop Integrals, and CGM to 7.4%, 9.2%, 21.5% respectively, compared to the CPU with multiple-precision floating-point C library MPFR.
