Construction of statistical atlas in root of hepatic vascular and apply for automatic vessel identification

(in English) It is important to classify vessels extracted in range of liver into the portal vein, hepatic vein or hepatic artery. So, we propose a method to estimate the initial position of the portal vein for identifying the portal vein in the liver vessels. First, we extract the vessel structures in range around a portal vein root which is gained by using a probabilistic atlas. Second, we construct a statistical shape model(SSM) which is combined a liver surface model with a model of centerlines of the portal vein root and estimate the first branch of portal vvein root by fitting only liver surface model in SSM to the liver of the evaluation data. Finally, we get the first branch of the portal vein root in the evaluation data by using information of distance between above result data. As a result of estimation of the initial position of portal vein, in 75% of all cases the results are good. In the future, we also perform automatically to estimate initial positions of hepatic vein and hepatic artery, therefore extract all vessels in liver and classify them into portal vein, hepatic vein and hepatic artery.
