It can be supposed in general that each wavelength channel is in service while RoF signal is accommodated in WDM network. In such a case, add/drop in certain wavelength channel will usually cause gain transience driven by cross gain saturation in EDFA over whole optical link, and the transience easily results in power change of radio signal emitted from base station. Such the power change is not desirable from the point of the view of regulation of wireless communication apparatus, thereby a demand for transient suppression for optical link may be risen. In this report, we observed the effect of transience on RoF service, and discuss about the advantage of transient-suppressed EDFA for RoF applications. |
