(事前公開アブストラクト) Psycholinguists assume the language production system to be universal, yet few of the world's languages have been investigated. We examined the effects of accessibility in Yucatec Maya. Because both SVO and OVS constituent orders are possible, we could contrast availability and alignment accounts. We conducted a video description experiment manipulating agent and patient animacy. As predicted by availability accounts, human agents and patients were significantly more likely to be mentioned earlier (ps<0.0001; interaction: n.s., N=597). Evidence for a revised alignment account showed human agents were correlated with active (p<0.0001) and human patients with passive voice, though more weakly (p<0.03, N=604).
