[Panel Discussion] GNU Radio: a network researcher's view
Susumu Ishihara (Shizuoka Univ.) SR2010-24
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) One of the biggest problems in wireless network research has been the
difficulty of developing real-world network due to the developing cost
and low flexibility of low-cost existing wireless devices. GNU Radio
has a big impact on this research area. It helps us to develop our own
wireless system rapidly at low cost using high level language which is
familiar to upper layer network researchers. Recently novel
technologies such as analog network coding and a technique for
cancellation of interference on wireless LANs have been developed with
GNU Radio by upper layer researchers. On the other hand, the lack of
experience in physical layer technologies, network researchers often
run into problems. We discuss the potential of GNU Radio on wireless
network research area and some problems on research activities.
