For the improvement of the communications operating ratio due to the Ka-band rain attenuation, we propose an adaptive satellite communications system avoiding shutdown of the communications-link by controlling transmitting power, error correcting code, data rate and antenna beam width in cooperation with satellite and earth station. As a key technology of adaptive system, we present a scanning variable spot beam antenna using an optically controlled beam forming network and the simulation test results of the antenna beam forming. |
