Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, we present a new tissue harmonic imaging (THI) method that uses multi chirp signals. Medical ultrasound images are required to be finer in both signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and spatial resolution. For the solution, THI and pulse compression technique (PCT) have been researched. To avoid the overlap of the fundamental component and the harmonic component in frequency domain, the bandwidth of the fundamental component is required to be narrow. In our proposed method, we employ multi chirp signals. Each bandwidth of the transmitted signals is designed without overlap of the fundamental components and the harmonic components. The harmonic components of the obtained echo signals are extracted and vector-correlated with the mismatched filters corresponding to the harmonic frequencies. As a result of experiments, it is shown that we can obtain the high resolution images by these harmonic components. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.
