When an object freely moves in n-dimensional space, the actual moving distance can be generally defined by the accumulated information of local position at every discrete time. In case the discrete locational information is given, the local fractal dimension (LFD) can be obtained by the relationship between the sampling interval and the actual accumulated distance on the window, in which the discrete data are extracted from the original time series. The moving LFD can be also obtained by shifting the window to the right hand side in sequence. In this paper, it is shown that the distribution for the moving LFD when 3-dimensional random walking belongs to the so-called normal distribution. These results may be applied to the observation for an abnormal behavior or the monitoring system for small animals in their cages, which are freely moving in 3-dimensinal space. If the range of the moving LFD in the normal situations for these animals could be estimated, the preludes may be detected in case a moving LFD dropped out of the normal range. |
