Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Non-regenerative OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) relay
systems can expand the range of wireless communication with mitigating
the effect of multipath fading and maintaining high data rate.
Aiming at maximizing the achievable rate, a number of PA (Power Allocation)
methods for dual-hop non-regenerative OFDM relay systems have been studied
so far.
However, such PA methods essentially need FFT (Fast Fourier Transform)
and IFFT (Inverse FFT) processes which cannot avoid buffering and signal-processing delays at the relay node.
Therefore, advantages of non-regenerative relays over regenerative relays may be lost such as low delay and applicability to single frequency network.
In this paper, three types of PA methods for dual-hop non-regenerative OFDM relay schemes without FFT/IFFT processes at a relay node are proposed.
The proposed methods include two types of chunk-based PA and a uniform PA
at a relay node.
To maximize the achievable rate, PA method is derived from each optimization problem to allocate power to both source and relay nodes.
Numerical results of the achievable rates in several fading models
indicate that their achievable rates are close to
the upper limit of PA using FFT/IFFT processes by adequately setting the chunk size when both source and relay nodes employ chunk-based PA.
