Excess-Fiber-Free Compact Packaging of Optical Components by a Novel Fiber Jacket Removing System with a CO2 Laser

(in English) A novel fiber jacket removing system with a CO2 laser has been proposed to realize compact packaging of optical components. The fundamental conditions and procedures to remove fiber jackets by a CO2 laser were clarified experimentally, and the procedures were applied to excess-fiber-free MT connectorizations. It is demonstrated that the MT connectorization by the system enables us to connect optical components without excess fibers, and the connection losses are comparable with those by commercially available MT connectors. The experimental results clarified that the approach could reduce the packaging size effectively.
