A Waveguide Power Divider Mechanical-Controlling Dividing Ratio With Low Insertion Loss

(in English) Loss reduction of a power divider mechanical-controlling dividing ratio has been investigated. The divider consists of a rectangular waveguide section with a coaxial probe in order to deliver microwave power from the waveguide to the coaxial line, and three rotary fins and one metal rod are incorporated for mechanical-control of the dividing ratio. High power experiments and electromagnetic field simulations revealed to be that the cause of high insertion loss of the divider is the conductor loss by large current flowing on surfaces of the fin edges and the H plane waveguide walls facing each other. The rotary fins with the shape of character ``H'' are employed for reduction of the large current. It was confirmed that the power insertion loss ratio of the prototype divider is less than 6.5%.
