This paper proposes a method to make correspondence between supine-prone positions of colon.
Physicians take CT images in supine and prone positions when examining the colon.
However, colonic walls are soft and changes it's shape when a patient changes positions.
Therefore, physicians need to consider the positional relations when comparing the CT images taken in the both positions.
Calculating the positional relations of the two positions of the colon can reduce load of physicians.
A large number of haustral folds exist in the colon and the order don't change when a patient changes positions.
Therefore, haustral folds are suitable for registering the supine and the prone positions of the colon.
We also find feature points in the colon based on anatomical features and register the positions by finding positional relations of haustral folds between the feature points.
Positional relations of the haustral folds are calculated by one-dimensional DP matching using volume and length along the colon ceneterline of the haustral folds.
As the result of experiments using 6 cases of abdominal CT images, the proposed method established supine-prone correspondence successfully. |
