Shaper Evaluation for Bandwidth Assurance in MPLS-TP Network

(in English) We present the result of incoming traffic shaping function evaluation for MPLS-TP network bandwidth assurance. Shaper at the network entrance equalizes the frame transmission interval based on the contracted bandwidth per user flow, so that frame discard in the network is avoided. But output competition often occurs at the shaper when the shaper deals with many flows. The influence on large bandwidth flows is greater, and it causes frame discard. This is why clarification of flow number and contradicted bandwidth is needed to avoid frame discard. In this paper we verified shaper efficiency by both simulation test and real machine test, changing the user flow numbers and bandwidth parameters. As a result, we succeeded in clarifying the parameters to avoid frame discard.
