Designing Data Center Network Using AHP
Noriaki Kamiyama (NTT) NS2010-6
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The demand for delivery service of large-size content such as video has increased dramatically, and the use of cloud computing service in which users can use IT service via networks has increased as well. To provide these services with high quality and high reliability, ISPs need to carefully design network topology and position of data centers. However, network topology and data center location strongly affect various properties including cost, path length, and reliability, so these various evaluation criteria with different unit need to be considered simultaneously when designing data center network. AHP (analytic hierarchy process) is known as a way to make a rational decision considering multiple criteria, and the author applied AHP to network topology evaluation. This paper proposes to design data center network by evaluating both network topology and data center location simultaneously using AHP, and shows the numerical results in three areas of Japan, USA, and Europe.
