Belief Propagation (BP) is an effective method for removing granular noise, which appears in insufficiently exposed images. Since BP requires considerable amount of time and memory, some acceleration algorithms have been proposed. The most effective one is a method which employs binary search of a label set consisting of intensity values. This method drastically improves the execution time of BP, however; it is still far from real-time processing on generic CPUs. This report presents a real-time implementation of granular-noise reduction based on BP on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). |
