| (in English) | My talk here focuses on the recent findings through experimental studies of development of communicative abilities in infancy. As specific examples, I introduce 3 topics: the first one is about the development of the production of back-channels or nodding in face-to-face interaction between an adult and 3- or 5-year-old children. Second one is about the modification of communicative behavior in 1-year-old children, especially when their attempt to communicate with their own caretaker was not completed. And the third one is about whether 1-year-old infants have an ability to detect (as a third person) the natural/unnatural sequences of interaction between others, which was assessed through eye-tracking technique. This field of research should be important not only as descriptions of particular phenomena of communication in infancy but also as a way to approach psychological foundations of communication, such as human perception of intentionality or mental states of others. | |
