A Proposal of Flow Entry Reduction Scheme for Flow-based Networks and Its Implementation on OpenFlow-based Network
Yasunobu Chiba, Hideyuki Shimonishi, Yusuke Shinohara (NEC Corp.) NS2009-163
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In flow-based networks such as OpenFlow-based network, it is difficult to handle a large number of flow entries in a node due to the limitation of search engine device such as ternary content-addressable memory (TCAM). In this paper, we propose a scheme that reduces the number of flow entries should be registered in a node without changing granularity of flows. Also we demonstrate that more than 200,000 flows can be actually handled in a small testbed with the proposed scheme.
