The power conversion efficiency of the bulk hetero-junction (BHJ) polymer solar cells has been improved markedly in the last few years, achieving up to 7~8% efficiency and attractive because of its advantages: lightweight, low cost, wide application, and environmentally friend. For much higher performance of organic solar cells with an efficiency over than 10 % and much higher durability for practical use, two key problems must be solved: 1) low efficient charge separation from exciton with very short diffusion length and 2) low efficient separation of electron and hole from charge trapping and charge-recoupling in the bulk hetero-junction layer. Supra-hierarchical nano-structured organic solar cells are being proposed as one of the solutions. |
