Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is necessary to perform patient set up accurately in radiotherapy. Generally the radiotherapy is performed repeatedly and the patient set up is done by manual operation at every treatment. At this time, the patient position is adjusted by comparing the fluoroscopic images acquired at the last treatment position and those acquired at the current treatment positioning. Because fluoroscopic images are acquired from two-directions, it is theoretically possible to estimate the three dimensional position of the target. However, since it is difficult to find the corresponding points from the two fluoroscopic images, we cannot often take the advantage of bi-plane fluoroscopic images. In this study we propose a technique for assisting operator’s three-dimensional positioning. In the proposed technique, a guideline is presented in finding a corresponding point using the epipolar geometry. Computer simulation is presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed technique and to estimate the positioning accuracy.
