Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The purpose of this study is the optimization for irradiance condition in ultrasonic degradation of polymer. The ultrasonic degradation (UD) of polyethylene glycol (PEG) was studied using 1 MHz ultrasonic transducers. The luminescence intensity of luminol reaction was obtained for estimation of cavitation production using photomultiplier and degradation products were measured by MALDI-TOF-MS. The results showed that both the intensity of luminescence and degradation efficiency of PEG were increased with increasing in applied electric power of ultrasonic transducer. Moreover, the luminescence intensity and applied power were changed periodically with distance from ultrasonic transducer to the solution surface.
