A parametric loudspeaker is practically promising because its directivity is
much sharper than that of a conventional loudspeaker.
However, ultrasonic exposure due to intense carrier waves still remains, and is
successfully solved for developing further the parametric loudspeaker.
Ultrasonic emitters consist of several projectors
that are driven individually at the same frequencies but different phase
angles.
Especially, two extreme cases of the usual in-phase driving and
out-of-phase driving are focused on.
Some experimental results show that carrier ultrasound pressures are
decreased by 20~dB or more without deteriorating the features of parametric
audio sounds. |
