It is important to understand the radio wave propagation structures in mobile or wireless communications. One of useful methods for the purpose is high-resolution DOA estimation using array antenna. However, for the near field sources, different signal models are required since the incident wave fronts are spherical. This paper deals with the near field DOA-Matrix method for source localization, which assumes that the distance attenuation is constant in the array antenna. Particularly, the effect of the distance attenuation of the incident spherical waves on the accuracy of source localization is investigated in this paper. Via computer simulation, it has been confirmed that the DOA-Matrix method provides acceptable accuracy in near filed source localization if there is only one source that has distance attenuation in the array antenna. |
