QRM-MLD Frequency-domain Block Signal Detection for Single-carrier Transmission Using Frequency-domain Filtering

(in English) A single-carrier (SC) transmission with frequency-domain equalization (FDE) has been attracting a lot of attention due to its low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) for the uplink wireless access. In SC transmission using the square-root Nyquist filter at both the transmitter and receiver, as the filter roll-off factor increases, the PAPR reduces. Furthermore, since the signal bandwidth increases, larger frequency diversity gain can be achieved and the bit error rate (BER) performance is improved. However, a big performance gap exists from the theoretical lower bound. Recently, we proposed a frequency-domain block signal detection using maximum likelihood detection (MLD) employing QR decomposition and M-algorithm (QRM-MLD) for the SC block transmissions and showed that it can significantly improve the BER performance of SC transmissions in a frequency-selective fading channel. In this paper, we extend the previously proposed QRM-MLD frequency-domain block signal detection to the SC transmission using frequency-domain filtering. We evaluate, by computer simulation, the achievable BER performance and discuss how filter roll-off factor affects the achievable BER performance and the number of surviving symbol candidates of QRM-MLD.
