Data Transmission Control Scheme to Prevent Deafness Problem
Yuya Komatsu, Masaki Bandai, Takashi Watanabe (Shizuoka Univ.) AN2009-49
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Many recent works on ad hoc networks assume use of directional antennas. Directional antennas are capable of providing spatial reuse and longer ranges. Using directional antennas in ad hoc networks improves the achievable performance and system capacities. However, using directional antennas incurs directional hidden terminal problem and deafness problem. Deafness Problem is a critical problem of decreasing throughput. In this paper, we propose moderate transmission (MT) scheme and alternative cast (AC) scheme to prevent the deafness problem. Moderate Transmission scheme controls the number of packet in a route to prevent the deafness. Alternative Cast Scheme transmits packets alternately along multiple routes to prevent deafness. We show moderate transmission scheme and alternative cast achieves high throughput compare with existing scheme
