Immunity test methods for electronics equipments are specified in IEC 61000 series. Especially, the immunity requirements for telecommunication equipment concerning the test level and performance criteria of each port are specified in ITU-T Rec. K.43. Since ITU-T Rec. K43 focuses on the telecommunication equipments placed in telecommunication centers or customer premises for public telecommunication networks such as PSTN or ISDN, it may not be applied to the internal communication ports in terminal equipment such as an Ethernet port. Recently, video service typified by the re-broadcasting of digital terrestrial television has been provided by connecting a set-top box and a home gateway with an Ethernet cable. As video services are required low delay and low frame error rate to provide high quality service, such delay or frame error by electromagnetic disturbance may give strong influences on the user’s perception. In this paper, we examined the immunity requirements for Ethernet ports of terminal equipments in customer premises. As a result, the electromagnetic disturbance of 0.15 to 80 MHz, which is caused in AC power lines, may be attenuated only 6 dB when it goes through electronic devices such as PC or HUB and comes into the Ethernet ports of the terminal equipments. Hence the test level for the Ethernet ports of the terminal equipments in customer premises may be needed at least a half levels of the requirement for AC power ports of them. |
