A Realization of IntDCT using Direct Lifting of DCT and IDCT

(in English) DCT is easily implemented by software and hardware for JPEG and MPEG. On the other hand, even though some integer DCTs (IntDCTs) for lossless-to-lossy image coding have been proposed, their devices have to be redesigned. We proposes a realization of hardware-friendly IntDCT which can be applied into both lossy and lossless coding. Our IntDCT is implemented by direct lifting of DCT and inverse DCT (IDCT) as it is. Consequently, any existing DCT devices can be directly applied to every lifting blocks. Although our method requires a little side information, proposal is validated by applying them to lossless-to-lossy image coding.
