We study Coded Phase Shift Pulse Brillouin Optical-fiber Time Domain Analysis (Coded PSP-BOTDA) for the measurement of distributed strain in optical fiber. PSP-BOTDA employs a pair of pulsed pump. The 1st pulse is to excite the acoustic phonons while the following 2nd pulse is to locate fiber strain with high spatial resolution. For the Coded PSP-BOTDA, the 2nd pulse is transformed to the sequence of Golay-coded pulses. This results in the improvement in signal-to-noise ratio of the detected signal. In this paper, we analyze and experiment on the relationship between Golay code length and signal to noise improvement ratio. |
