Probability-based Channel Selection Scheme in Cognitive Radio Networks

(in English) In this paper, we propose an optimal probabilistic spectrum decision scheme to minimize the overall transmission time (i.e., waiting time plus total service time) for multiple secondary users in cognitive radio (CR) networks. The contribution of this work is to develop a probability-based load balancing scheme on top of the preemptive resume priority (PRP) M/G/1 queuing network model that can incorporate the effect of the primary user's interruptions on the total service time of the secondary users. Unlike the most existing spectrum decision methods that multiple secondary users may contend for the same channel, the proposed probability-based spectrum decision scheme can distributively allocate the traffic loads of secondary users more evenly to multiple channels, thereby reducing the waiting time. Furthermore, thanks to the PRP M/G/1 model, the proposed method can minimize the overall transmission time subject to the interruptions of the primary user's traffic. Our analytical results show that the total transmission time with our method can outperform the existing methods by 10%.
