Fundamental Characteristics of Body-Centric Communicatons in MHz Band

(in English) In recent years, studies on body-centric or human-body communications have become an important and active area of research due to their various applications such as e-healthcare, indoor security systems and personal communications. For example, a system that recognizes and authorizes users when the users touch the receiver equipped on a wall has been proposed. However, most of recent investigations based on numerical simulations were conducted with models that include only human body and wearable devices; therefore, there have been few reports about communication link characteristics between wearable devices and external devices equipped on surrounding objects. In this paper, a model that includes a receiver on a wall was developed, and fundamental characteristics were numerically analyzed by using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.
