Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) There have been a number of proposals for self-organizing key management frameworks using web-of-trust defined in Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) to be applied to authentication in mobile ad hoc networks. In these existing frameworks, each node plays the roles of CA and RA in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and issues public-key certificates for another node at its discretion. The validity of a public-key is confirmed by the certificate issued by some nodes which is to be trusted. However, these frameworks do not sufficiently take into consideration the time needed for authentication and resource consumption issues. Moreover, although these frameworks assume that each node can trust others and confirm the validity of the keys indirectly by use of web-of-trust transitively, there is no way to assure whether the certificate issuer is to be trusted. Hence, in this paper, we proposed a novel and efficient self-organizing public-key management framework that can solve problems on time and resource inefficiency as well as transitive trust.
