Performance Analysis of DS-UWB Signal Design to Realize Radar as well as the Communication-Base-Ranging

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We are researching accurate one-way ranging system based on DS-UWB(Direct Sequence Ultra Wideband) communication technology by comparing transmission time and receipt time (We call“Communication-Base-Ranging”). To adapt packet structure to both Communicaton-Base-Ranging and radar, we theoretically analyzed relation between packet structure that preamble symbols and data symbols are serially-concatenated and also we showed that preamble symbol length significantly affects bit error rate in low signal-to-noise tatio(SNR). On the other hand, data symbol length affects in high SNR. And we suggested that through put depends on the number of data bits in a packet.
