Design Optimization of Left-handed Dielectric Metamaterial Using a Level Set Based Structural Optimization Method

(in English) The metamaterials are paid to attention and are investigated because these have the specific characteristics which the conventional materials do not have. However, it is sometimes difficult to design metamaterials based on experience and theoretical consideration. Therefore, the authors aim to construct a level set based structural optimization method to design metamaterials. In this report, the authors constructed a design method for left-handed dielectric metamaterials that consist of a waveguide and periodically located dielectric-resonators, and confirmed the validity of the newly constructed method using a numerical example.
