[Tutorial Lecture] Specific Object Recognition
Koichi Kise (Osaka Pref. Univ.) PRMU2009-104
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Specific object recognition is a process to recognize instances
of objects captured as images. In other words, it indicates
the conversion from an appearance of an object to its ID.
This functionality allows us to use objects as link anchors
of the web, and thus extend the cyber world to the real world.
Since we are surrounded by an immense number of object instances,
specific object recognition, in its nature, is a challenge
to the scalability. In this tutorial, I show recent advances in
specific object recognition with the special focus on
methods using local features.
