Voice Production Model Considering Boundary-layer Analysis of Glottal Flow and Source-filter Interactions
Tokihiko Kaburagi, Katsunori Daimo (Kyushu Univ.) SP2009-64
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper presents an estimating method of the glottal volume flow by considering the influence of air viscosity and interactions between the voice production system and vocal-tract filter. The viscosity of air results in the formation of boundary layer in the vicinity of the glottis, thus affecting the effective size of the channel and flow separation. The source-filter interaction is the acoustic feedback of the tract to the voice production system that affects the volume flow and vocal fold motion. By introducing these physical mechanisms, we propose a novel speech production model and presents simulation results.
