Affordance and Foreign Language Learning -- Language Use in Different Situations --

(in English) This presentation focuses on the difficulty in using knowledge in different places, which is considered “what we have learned in classes of EFL or English as a foreign language.” Repetition works in order to memorize certain useful expressions, but it does not ensure a good performance in using those expressions outside the classroom. We will examine the possibility that the concept of affordance, which reflects the meaning of the relationship between the creature and the environment surrounding it, may be able to shed the light on the problems concerning the relationship between learners and the environment surrounding them.
