A study on influence of surrounding atmosphere to gaseous phase transition in break arc

(in English) The influence of a surrounding gas on arc duration time and the gaseous phase transition were experimentally researched in Ag, AgSnO2 Break arc. Arc duration ta, Metallic phase duration tm, and Metallic to gaseous phase transition ratio G were measured. There are four kinds of surrounding gases, that is, air, oxygen, nitrogen, and helium. Pressure was set to atmospheric pressure (0.1MPa). Under the E=48V, closed contacts current Io has been changed within the range of 0.4 - 5A. As a result, the arc duration of Ag became longer in oxygen, and the gaseous phase transition was occurred in most small Io. The arc voltage waveform has changed with a surrounding gas and the contact material. Moreover, a surrounding gas influences Io of the gaseous phase transition boundary in Ag. On the other hand, the influence of gas was small in AgSnO2.
