Experimental study on the wind noise observed by a microphone in low frequency sound measurement
Yoshiaki Takakuwa (Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin Univ.) EA2009-81
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is generally difficult to remove the wind noise in the outdoor measurement of low-frequency environmental noise. The use of a dual or three-layered wind screen is effective to reduce the wind noise, but it is insufficient for the low-frequency component in the windy conditions. For the problem, the estimation method based on the use of (1) the wind speed information near the microphone or (2) the observed infrasonic components of the wind noise has been proposed. Though the effectiveness of the proposed method was shown, further study on the wind noise is indispensable in order to improve the estimation accuracy. This study shows continuous experimental results based on the former analysis on the wind noise.
