On-board Evaluation and Commuication Experiment Results of Active Phased Array Antenna for KIZUNA (WINDS) Satellite

(in English) Phased Array Antennas have attracted attention for use as hopping spot beam antennas that might be used as electronically controllable onboard satellite antennas. In fact, a Ka band APAA is installed on KIZUNA (WINDS) developed by JAXA and NICT. WINDS was developed to carry a new high-speed satellite communication system and demonstrate the advanced technology. This paper describes the WINDS APAA configuration, in addition to development and on-board evaluation results of the APAA flight model and communication experiment results.
