In order to reduce the power requirement of plasma display panel, it is effective to increase the secondary electron emission coefficient (gamma value) of MgO protecting layer. We computationally analyzed geometries and electronic structures of several MgO surfaces. By using the calculated electronic structure, we estimated gamma values. In the gamma estimation, we additionally considered two characters of surface electron traps. The estimated gamma values had good agreements with experimental values. |
