Cochlear Implant Recipients (CIR’s) can hear rhythm as well as normal hearings, however can hear pitch and timber and melody much less than normal, therefore CIR’s are difficult to enjoy normal music. Center frequencies of the analysis band-pass filters are spaced much wider than fundamental frequencies of the musical notes, which cause difficulties of pitch perception in CIR’s. Extending the frequency range from the original semitone scale, selecting the musical notes corresponding to the center frequencies of band-pass filters corresponding to the electrodes of the Cochlear Corporation, a new musical scale is defined as a Cochlear Implant Scale. |
