Abstract: We wish to develop a brain-machine interface technology (BMI). As the first step to this goal, we measured the emotional movie-triggered neurophysiological responses from 11 healthy volunteers and the correlation between the three different type of emotional senses (i.e., pleasure, disgusting, and the conflicting in between the two) and 31 physiological measures including EEG(19 poles), EOG, ECG, and the non-contact measure of thermograph (7 points on face and neck). We found that principle component analysis(PCA) on these 31 physiological measures and subjective feeling successfully distinguish three emotions and the combination of thermograph and EEG from some poles was effective among the measures. Furthermore, we could capture the individual difference by choosing most effective physiological measure, suggesting the possibility of developing personalized emotional signal-based BMI. |
