| (in English) | As one of speech visualization methods, we have developed a real time PC system based on the colored speech representation, which are investigated its functional performance in speech training by the hearing impaired children. Displaying vowel sounds as colored patterns is a principal function of our visualization method where users can perceive the phoneme characteristics of vowel sound produced by continuous articulation as differences in perceptual color. In this paper, we show superiority of the RGB space for the formant space in phoneme normalization of vowel sounds uttered by many male and female speakers, discuss a color perception as a visual phonemic criterion, and propose a color-based criterion (hue circle) for vowel articulation training. | |
