OFDM has become one of the most promising techniques because of its high bandwidth efficiency as well as its robustness against the severe frequency selective fading by using guard interval (GI). However, one of the major problems in OFDM is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Therefore, it is important to suppress the nonlinear distortion.
In this paper, we propose an OFDM nonlinear distortion avoidance scheme using a symbol-wise transmit power control. The feature of the proposed approach is that several input power levels of the HPA are prepared for avoiding the nonlinear distortion and that the input power level is deterministically controlled in a symbol-by-symbol manner to satisfy the maximum signal-to-noise-plus-distortion ratio (SNDR). |
