Noise Characteristics of OFDM Signal Generated by EPWM Transmitter after Clipping and Filtering

(in English) OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) achieves high spectral efficiency and is suitable for broadband wireless communications. However, it has high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and requires high linearity for transmitters. It makes current power amplifiers suffer low power efficiency. Envelope Pulse-Width Modulation (EPWM) transmitters have been proposed to obtain high power efficiency for the amplification of OFDM signals. One of the problems for EPWM transmitter is the quantization noise generated by Δ-? Modulator. In order to suppress the quantization noise, this paper proposes an EPWM transmitter with Clipping and Filtering for peak reduction. The quantization noise from the - modulator is analyzed and minimized in both the adjacent and next adjacent channel bands. EPWM transmitter output signal is simulated for the actual format OFDM signal.
