Top Loaded Monopole Antenna Using Triangular Radiating Element and Obliqued Short Pins with Folded Rim

(in English) In recent years, the radio-on-fiber (ROF) system was proposed for mobile communication network in order to eliminate the radio blind area. The antenna distribution system constructed by the coupler and the coaxial cable is used for the ROF system. In this system, it is required not only broadband characteristics but also low profile, because the antenna is installed on the in-building ceiling. To satisfy these necessities, the top-loaded monopole antenna (TLMA) has been proposed. The TLMA consists of a circular capacitance disk, a planar triangular radiate element, and oblique short pins for impedance matching. This paper presents the low-profile TLMA with folded rim. The effect of the folded rim that is installed on the edge of the ground plane is investigated to bandwidth characteristics and radiation patterns. The bandwidth of 17.5% is achieved with antenna height 0.03 wavelength. To verify the simulation results, the TLMAs with folded rim are fabricated and measured.
