Spiral array radial line slot antennas have deviations of the aperture illumination in the circumferential direction because of their axially asymmetric structures with the spirally arrangement of the radiating elements on the oversized radial waveguide. The deviation causes the reduction of the aperture efficiency and high sidelobe level in a certain cut plain. In this paper, a feeding structure is proposed for compensating the circumferential deviation. The feeding structure is composed of two pairs of axisymmetrical perturbation pins around a coaxial pin feeder. The perturbation pins bring the inverse characteristic of the circumferential deviation to cylindrical wave. In calculation, by using the perturbed cylindrical wave, more uniform aperture field illumination and the axisymmetrical radiation pattern are observed. |
