Recently, wireless power transmission technology is gaining increased attention. We have already reported a wireless connection system through inductive magnetic field (WCS-IMF), where the power transmission is switched on and off by loading and unloading the negative reactance to the input ports to balance the positive reactances of the transmitter and the receiver to get resonance. The Q factors of transmitting and receiving antennas should be sufficiently large for the power transfer between the transmitter and the receiver to be high.
The present report discusses wireless connection system through inductive electric field (WCS-IEF). WCS-IMF and WCS-IEF are reciplocal to each other.
For transmitter and receiver optimum design, the concept of conjugate image admittance has been introduced. The optimum port impedances and the optimum load reactances are expressed in terms of the admittance matrix parameters of the transmitter-receiver system including the antennas and the space. Examples are presented for dipoles of colinear and side-by-side arrangements, and for inversed L type antennas. In the latter case, the optimum port impedances may be as large as 50 ohms. |
