Passively mode-locked femtosecond fiber soliton laser with intersubband transition module

(in English) An intersubband transition (ISBT) in a quantum well has attracted considerable attention recently since it can be utilized to all-optical switching and signal processing. This is because the ISBT exhibits ultrahigh-speed saturable absorption characteristics faster than 1 ps by injecting a TM (Transverse Magnetic) mode optical pulse with high intensity. In this paper, we realize a passively mode-locked fiber laser using the ISBT module as a saturable absorber for the first time. The laser cavity was optimized as a soliton laser, which enabled us to generate a stable soliton pulse. As a result, a 88 fs, 42 MHz soliton pulse was successfully generated.
